WEDDINGS IN TICINO

Wedding Photographer in Lugano — Mediterranean Switzerland

Palm trees by the lake, granite lanes, an aperitivo as the evening light turns amber: Ticino is the Mediterranean corner of Switzerland — Italy in its heart, Switzerland in its planning. I photograph weddings around Lugano and Lake Maggiore for couples from abroad who want exactly that combination, with every step of the planning in English.

Where Ticino shines on camera

  • Morcote — arcades, stairways and lake views in one of Switzerland’s most beautiful villages.
  • Parco Ciani — Lugano’s lakeside park: elegant, green, right in town.
  • Monte Brè & San Salvatore — funiculars up, Lake Lugano glittering below.
  • Ascona — the piazza on Lake Maggiore at golden hour; it does not get more Mediterranean in Switzerland.
  • Verzasca valley — emerald water and the famous stone bridge at Lavertezzo for adventurous couples.
  • Grotti — long tables under plane trees; as a documentary photographer, these loud, warm dinners are my favourite part.

Italian light, Swiss reliability

Ticino’s light is strong: harsh at midday, soft and golden in the evening. I plan portraits accordingly — late in the day, when the piazza empties and the lake turns to silk — and keep the midday hours for shade, food and family. I travel down the day before, scout your locations, and coordinate directly with your venue or planner in English or German.

A sample two-day Ticino celebration

  1. Evening before — welcome aperitivo by the lake; relaxed documentary coverage as everyone arrives.
  2. Wedding morning — getting ready with shutters half-closed against the sun.
  3. Afternoon — ceremony, congratulations, shaded apéro.
  4. Golden hour — portraits in Morcote’s lanes or on the waterfront.
  5. Night — dinner at a grotto under the plane trees, speeches and dancing.

Planning from abroad

Many couples marry in Ticino without living anywhere near it. The practical questions — civil ceremony paperwork, venue choices, timings — are solvable; I will point you to experienced local planners for the formal side and keep the photography honest and unposed. Travel and accommodation for me are quoted transparently up front.

FAQ — Wedding Photographer Lugano

How hot does it get in summer?

Midday is genuinely hot — so the timeline breathes with the heat: shade and food at noon, portraits in the soft evening light.

Can you photograph a civil ceremony in Lugano?

Yes — discreetly and without flash; I confirm the current photo guidelines with the registry before your date.

Is the Verzasca valley doable in a wedding dress?

With a time window and a pair of spare shoes, yes — and the pictures are worth every step.

Do you know the venues around Lake Lugano and Lake Maggiore?

I will tell you honestly which places photograph beautifully; for availability and planning, local planners are the right partners and I am happy to work alongside them.

What language do you work in?

English throughout the planning; at the party I switch naturally between English, German and gestures — grotti dinners need no translation.

Photo and film together?

Yes — one team, one aesthetic: wedding film.
